Hello all,

Just wondering if any individuals have any experience in keeping desert horned lizards or Phrynosoma platyrhinos. I have a question concerning burying themselves. Mine has been buried for a day now and did not emerge to eat or bask. Day temps are consistent at 115 to 120 at the hottest point in the day and 85 to 90 ambient throughout the cage, with a nighttime drop to about 65-68. I did get him about a week ago via overnight fedex. I have never kept these guys in the past and was wondering if this is unhealthy behavior. I will see what tomorrow brings. All behavior was totally normal leading up to him being "stuck in the sand" haha. He was eating well and active for as active as these lizards can be. He currently eats crickets dusted in calcium plus as well as a mild mix of calcium formate, but I will be starting him on ants as early as tomorrow if he is to emerge.

If I can clear anything else up for you guys let me know but any help with this curiosity would be much appreciated.
