photo size question

i saw that the pixel size was 800 pix wide my pic is 1140x758 is the first number suppose to be 800 or less or the second number?

I think width is usually the first number, however, the answer is to look at your picture. Is it wider than it is tall? If so, then the bigger number is the width.
