cool pet. They will follow you for life unless they migrate with a flock. If they learned to fly.
I had a duck! His name was Pete and he was a muscovy. He was an Easter duckling someone dumped when he was still dyed blue, but too big to be "cute" anymore. Pete followed me everywhere and was like a dog too. He was awesome! He went on vacation with us to the beach as duckling (not in the water though). 
And then when he was older he would perch on the highest point of the back deck every afternoon because he could see me getting off the bus on the street behind us. Then when he got a little older he decided to meet me at the bus stop! He would fly over 2 yards to meet me....even on weekends.

I also got her around easter but like yours she was a bit past the super cute phase lol. She is a rouen duck so there is no hope of ever having her fly. If you saw her next to a mallard, the mallard would look like her baby. She just wanders around my back yard with my dog 
My dog and her are actually buddies they share water bowls sometimes. Worst thing about her is i swear she much lay at least an egg a day hahaha i find nests all the time overflowing with eggs.

Why.......so today will be a shitty day for me no matter how many fireworks. I went outback to water and feed my lil duckie but something was off. No quacking when i opened my backdoor. I had a really bad feeling in my stomach, as i neared her pen i noticed her eggs scattered. She was lying in the back area of her pen, she most likely was attacked by a raccoon. I cant even decsribe how i found her it was horrible. I will give her a proper burial in a little bit.
Remembering the good times....

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this!! I too had a raccoon massacre with my chickens. That is a truly terrible feeling when you know immediately that something is very wrong. I'm very sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace after having such a wonderful life with you.

I feel so sorry for you. Losing a pet you love is always so hard. i am moving this thread to the forum it should be in. Where we say good bye to our pets. Your duck may not be a cham, but you loved her and lose her. RIP ducky.
I had a pet duck when I was about 8. Just a regular white duck. I called her quacky (I was 8 ok). We lived in town and ducks poop everywhere. Finally my mom had us take her or to some friends in the county who raised ducks. I missed her so much.
