Peroxide cleaning

I have been using a 5% H2O2 solution for cage cleaning and dissinfecting.
Seems to work okay, and easy to rince away with water and put my cham back inside.

Does anyone else use peroxide?
Is 5% stronge enough?
I see a few web sites sell the 30% stuff, but it is very expensive, so I have been buying the 10% and diluting w/ water

I dont know much about peroxide, i do use it to steralive tools and things.
In my cages I mostly use vinegar and have been trying the zoomed product whip out.
For major cleanings I will also use bleach.

That should be fine, if you let it dry completely it will work great! Bleach is also a great solution, but you want to use about 5% bleach to water and soak, rinse and dry completely before the animal is put back. Make sure there isn't any odor.

When you use the bleach solution, dont you have a hard time getting the odor out?
I want to clean my cages w/o moving them outside, or my bathtub.
So I cant hose it down with gallons of water.

I have a big bottle of that Whipe Out stuff.
All it is is a weak ammonia solution w/ coloring and scent

I will fill my bath tub half way and add a cup of bleach, I probably don't use enough bleach but to me it's just enough, I then soak all fake plants and vines and his cage to get it sanitized, then i scrub them in the same bleach water... then lastly rinse and rinse and rinse and rinse until you can not smell any bleach on enclosure and all the plants and vines. I have always used bleach to clean bird cages... JUST DON'T USE STRAIGHT UP BLEACH!

Oh, I hadnt thought of that, just strip all the stuff out of the cage and put it in the tub w/ hot bleach water.
That sounds fairly painless :)

I have just been pulling out the old stuff, like the fake vines, and replacing with new, and clean the wooden perches a bit with peroxide and a sponge.

I'm going to try your way next time :)

Sounds like replacing would get costly, unless the fake plants are falling apart then I would buy new, but Like I said if you do the bleach way, make sure you rinse very well :)

Yeah, your right!

Cant I just spray clean the cage with something, rinse, and let it dry w/o having to remove anything (except the cham!) ?
