Hey everyone I am picking up a new enclosure this weekend and I am wondering if anyone has experience with the 2x2x4 penn plax HD habitat enclosure:

I am curious as to the build quality on this enclosure vs the more standard enclosure like the 2x2x4 aluminum screen cage.

I would like to have the clear plastic front for viewing purposes but at the same time, I do not want to buy a piece of junk. Please post up your experiences with both setups.

Thanks!

You can see through screens very easily. Having an acrylic "viewing" window isn't worth the extra $50 plus it provides less ventilation than an all screen cage

I don't have experience with the penplax, but I can tell you that some of the favorite cages that I built for myself had plexiglass doors that made for good viewing. Yes, you can see through screen, but no, it isn't the same clarity as glass or better yet, nothing between you and the lizard. Also a plexiglass door isn't going to limit ventilation on a cage with everything else screen.

Both look like enclosures that your cham will enjoy. My one thought on the subject is that depending on how you mist, and the hardness of your water. Harder water will leave stains on the penn plax. Also, if I hand mist I usually just do it through the screen. As far as visibility goes, I do not even notice the screen anymore.
