peeing?

do chameleons pee? only today have i seen my chameleon do what i imagined was peeing, it was very early and clear liquid was coming out of her behind, this IS pee right? and not some kind of cyst or something

Their urate is the whitish (or should be, if they're dehydrated it's yellow or orange) part that comes out with their poo.

there was a liquid coming out of her behind though, this wasn't addressed. i've seen the yellow stuff before but never this liquid.

To answer your question, no that is not peeing. From my understanding Chameleons are not supposed to "pee" like humans. The excret urate with there feces which as said above is the white part (or sometimes yellow or orage when dehydrated). the one time i saw my cham make some droppings there was a little liquid that came out with the feces and urate but it was very little.

she "pee'd" for almost 30 seconds though, what was it? could she be producing eggs?

The only time Ive ever seen drops of liquid coming out of the cloaca was on a young and very malnourished, dehydrated chameleon. It was so skinny I thought it was a female until I took him in and got him healthy and now he is a big beautiful blue nosybe. He would try to pass a bowel movement but all that would come out was liquid then he would sleep during the day. Is yours eating and drinking normally? Is it sleeping during the day?

no she's very active.
she eats everything and drinks perfectly fine. maybe she wasnt getting enough water from my misting and dehydrated a bit. i'll be more careful. thanks for the heads up.

also, how many dubia nymphs will supplement a female 1yr old chameleon?
