Panther Leg Wound

I found my Veiled Chameleon in my panther cage with this little guy.

I then found the panther with this wound on his leg.. I suspect that this is a bite wound..

He has problems grabbing onto the branches and balancing when he's walking, and when i used a Q-tip with warm water to brush off the blood, the wound seemed hard..as if it were a broken bone or something, but he can bend his leg. So i'm not really sure.

He doesn't seem to be showing any real signs of discomfort or severe pain, as he still shows his bright colours and walks around the cage.. Just completely noticeable there is a leg wound.

Any thoughts or advice as to what I should do.. or if it will heal on its own?!

Thanks,

How did your Veiled get into your panther's cage? Are you sure it's not a burn? How long were they together? I would try to clean it with some betadine and then put a little baitracin on it... maybe take him to a vet? And keep them seperate of course!

i would keep it clean and dry and watch for pain or inflammation.

you can't run your kid to the emergency room everytime they get a boo-boo. if he's walking on it okay, and he seems fine. i would just keep a close eye on it and the vets number on speed dial just in case.

So you think your veiled bit your panther?

Take the above advice to clean the wound out with betadine. You can buy this at walgreens or CVS or osco or..... whatever local drug store you have. Dilute it with water so it looks like iced tea and rinse the wound. If you have a plastic syringe, it works well to clean the wound. If you can get your hands on some silvadene, apply each day after rinsing the wound and drying the wound. I have been doing this for my Melleri who has some tail nips from crickets.
