Panther Chameleon Sexing

I've been doing my research, and I'm pretty confident this is a female, but want to confirm. The Petco told my wife it was a male, but I just don't think so. I tried to get the best shots "he" even leaned over for me while sunning, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully one of these will help, I can take (have taken) more, but it would only let me post 10.

This is really disappointing. My wife purchased it because she knew I wanted a Male and the store sales person told her they had a Male and Female, and she asked for the Male. Not that she's unwanted, but I've heard they can have complications later in life when gravid and laying eggs. While I have experience with Geckos, Bearded Dragons, and Snakes, I was definitely hoping for a colorful Male, especially for $150 :( Maybe later I can find a handsome male for her for a decent price.

Our general rule here is never accept the advice of a pet store employee. They mean well but have killed many a Cham. Females are definitely harder to care for but as long as you ask questions and can stand some light criticism you will do just fine. I suggest you start reading up on how critical the correct supplements are for females and how to deal with laying eggs. You’ve got time but I’d start now. Can you post pics of her viv and what kind of UVB are you running?

It's the Medium (16x16x30) Repti-Breeze sharing a cool mist humidifier with my Crested Gecko (two fogger hoses). I put those cheap Zoomed lights and dripper in the garage that came with the kit they sold my wife, and replaced them with a single 125w Mercury Vapor inside a Fluker's Sun Dome suspended fixture. I have her on 12/12 and breed my own Dubia Roaches and Super Worms and order 1000 crickets for everybody to share about every other week.

I'm still within my 30 days to exchange her for a male, but I would HATE to think she may end up with someone even less adept with reptiles than I am, but we paid for a male and that's kind of what I want. :(

It's to bad that the pet stores don't take care of the reptiles better but if you paid for a male you should get a male. If you leave a male sitting there is going to have the same fate as the female you bring back.

Good call on not using the CFLs that came with the kit. There a reason you went with the MVB over a 6% linear?

I have used MVBs with all my other UVB needy reptiles, and they've never done me wrong. I do however know that the CFLs can lead to MBD and are just cruel IMO.

On another note, my Wife and I haven't heard back from the petstore about swapping for a Male, so we're going to do a charge back with our bank to recover the money AND keep/save this little girl from a possible incompetent owner in the future. I'm looking into getting a handsome Male from a reputable breeder when I upgrade her cage. (The medium we have is fine for now, but I realize she will outgrow this quickly) I'll be getting the X-Large or building a custom enclosure for them both.
