Panther chameleon eating fake plants

Hi, i have a issue with my panther chameleon Kevin eating fake plants. i tried putting live plants like safe ivy's and other tropical plants but he rips them out of the ground and EATS THE PLANT ROOTS. i'm not sure if it is bad or not. he had it in his mouth so i clipped the root off the plant so the plant wasn't dangling. PLZZZ HELP

Young panthers are masters at private property destruction. You just have to outwit them until they outgrow it.

I recommend live safe plants only...no plastic because he could become impacted from eating plastic or silk plants. I would also offer him some veggies and fruits. I've had a couple panthers that like greens such as collard, kale, mustard, danelion and endive. They would also eat small slivers of carrot, strawberry, apple, blueberry and banana.
