Panather Chameleon

My female Panther was digging in her potted plant today, so we gave her privacy and had left the house for the majority of the day. When I came home she was finishing up covering what I thought would be eggs. Once she left the potted plant I check and there are no eggs and she is still fat as ever. Do they typically cover their test hole if they do not lay eggs. Thank you for your input she is acting fine, eating very little over the last couple days. We have a lay box, she is just preferring the plant.

They shouldn't fill it in if they haven't laid he eggs. Does it look like it was filled in on purpose? How long has the laying bin been in there?

I agree they don't usually turn and fill them back up if it is just a test hole or she found the hole to not be ideal for laying. I've had them dig more than one and in the process the older holes get filled in but never intentionally closing up a hole without eggs.

The laying bin has been there for about a week. She did intentionally fill it in. When my veiled laid eggs she was much thinner, this one looks the same as before she started to dig the hole. She seems to be acting normal, I didn't dig all the way to the bottom because there are a ton of root and I do not think she could dig through them, will check again. If she doesn't do something soon or starts to act off, I will take her to the vet.

Well I pulled the plant out of the pot and guess what I found 21 eggs. She is just a chubby little thing. Thank you all so much for your help! Not sure if they are fertile or not, will keep everyone updated!

That's not surprising at all to me actually. After my female laid, I could have sworn she had more in there. She still looked plump. It took about 2 days but suddenly she was her thin self again.

I wonder if it takes their bodies a bit of time to return to normal after laying...I would imagine so.

Regardless, congrats on the eggs!
