Painting Apartment and Health

My girlfriend and I are considering painting our apartment, and were curious as to whether or not the fumes may be dangerous to Andrew? We are doing the room adjacent to his room, and can open the windows, so I am thinking it will be ok - any insight would be great

If you plan to use low VOC latex paint (lots and lots of choices here) it should be fine. I'd probably shut the room door while the paint is really wet.
