Is it just me, or is this moniter VASTLY overfed?! Moniters are supposed to be sleek and fast!? This poor thing looks like an elephant!!?

These people are a big shop too. I think I'd turn around and walk away at the sight of this moniter.... Or am I wrong? Maybe Asian water moniters are supposed to be hippo sized....

Yes it could be, but you would be wayyy more outraged if it was nothing but skin and bones right?

Yeah, that's a fat one - not very healthy. Monitors pretty much all have a tendency to obesity in captivity, and it is overfed but I've seen worse........it seems quite active as well, so it's not too bad really. Has a bit of a graze on the knee too though........

It's a fat lizard, but I don't know that I'd call many wild water monitor adults "sleek". Even that fat one can probably be fast though.

And many others on youtube. Adult waters are kind of chunky. But if you especially look at size of the rear legs and tail- the one in that shop is a little fatty. LOL

I don't think it is wonderful, but I don't think it's any worse than people who have fat dogs or cats...

Ah right yeah I see what you mean. That really isn't masses bigger than the ones in the park is it. I think maybe I was thinking of Savanah monitors. Those things are massive!! That's not much smaller than a Komodo !
