Our little girl Skeeta decided to practice being a mom yesterday, and surprised me with 3 Jelly-belly shaped slugs and 1 double-size monster!
Made sure she was okay, she drank plenty of water and munched away (out of my sight, she thought) as usual.
This morning, I got her to eat a butter-worm for extra nutrition (usually she sticks her nose up at them) and she carried on as normal. Before I left for work, I noticed she finished a poop but had a little pink bulge at her vent. Panic. Prolapse?!
Made sure she had a good soak in a bowl, and an extra long misting before I left (short day) got home and made an appointment with the vet. (They suggested even if I suspected a prolapse to get over there as soon a possible.)
Well after a stop and go drive there, and a nice hour long wait the doctor had a look and decided she wasn't prolapsed after all, just swollen! Other than that said she looks great! Got some cream to apply 3 times a day, a jar for fecal samples and away we went, 200 dollars (Canadian. Thats around 300 US now isn't it?
) poorer, but happy with the prognosis.
She's all tucked in for the evening now, and my worry bone has kicked in.
Geeze, I was just about to breed her with a male Meru a friend has. Now I'm having second thoughts. (it's tough being a parent!)
