so i have had my fisher's named fletcher for about 3 weeks now, and today i took him outside for the first time. he seemed to enjoy being perched on my hand and looking around, but he was fairly dark for most of the walk. in general he eats every day/every other day, goes to bed at roughly the same time every day, and i assume he drinks from his waterfall(i know people aren't fond of them on here, but i clean it daily and put new distilled water in it every morning) because he always has urate in his waste. he just didn't seem to like the wind at all. is this normal? it wasn't at all hurricane force gusts or anything, but when it gusted he held on tighter and got closer and seemed to shake a bit. i'm always paranoid that he will get sick, and have slight concerns about him catching any kind of cold. advice?

I wouldn't worry to much about the wind. How cold was it there? He could have been a dark color so he could soak up the sun better.

21 celcius. which is 75 f i think? i'm taking advantage of the current warm before it goes back to cold and wet.

75 is fine I wouldn't worry about him getting sick in that weather.

That's a good temp for your Fischer's

I had similar concerns when I got my montane chams (a "Fischer's" Kinyongia multituberculata and a "Jackson's" C. jacksonii xantholophus).
Montane species of chams are those which came from mountainous areas and are adapted to cooler temperatures than Veiled and Panther chams.
If you keep your cham's enclosure clean, keep his climate the way he needs it to be, supplement his food according to a montane supplement schedule, gutload his feeders and monitor him for any changes each day (sleeping during the day, not eating, changes to his body, etc.) then he should be fine.
It's also a good idea to get his poop checked by a good vet, to see if he needs to be treated for parasites.
I would recommend that you have him in some type of enclosure outdoors, so no birds try to have him for dinner.
Also, never leave him outside, uncaged, alone, even to run inside for "just a minute", since chams can disappear alot faster than you would think.
