Outdoor plant advice

So right now I'm looking for plants that can be outside all day long that are safe enough for my chams. Have 2 veileds and even though they haven't ate any leaves in awhile I'm just being cautious. My husband suggested Japanese maple since its slow growing but I don't know. I have 1 each umbrella tree, 1 each pothos, and a focus that's in Ringos enclosure. I know that pothos aren't suppose to be outside so I need a good top cover and a good bottom cover plant (tree)

Hibiscus! They are safe and will provide color when flowering!
