outdoor cage

as you know it is ohmost getting to the the time where we can
(in illinois) out our chams outside. i just started to work at menards
so everytime i walk threw the store i notice all these things that i
can use for a chameleon cage outdoors. i just got some hardware net
(plastic square netting) that is 3' by 15' for $11. im going to be getting 1'' ovc tubes that are 5' long also. im going to make my outdoor enclosure
2.5' x 2.5' x 5'H. im going to make it simple and easy to collapse
because i have little monsters for neibors who will want to play with it and
i dont trust all the kids in my neighbor hood with leaving my cham outside
all the time, unsupervised. so it will be easy and really cheep. its only for
the use of the sun really. im going to fasten the net to the pvc by zipties,
simple yet strong enough.

my concern is of a few outdoor hazards.
1. is it going to blow away? it gets quite windy here.

2. bees and wasps. im alergic to bees and wasps, and if my cham eats them
can the stinger harm him? will they sting him?

3. with this netting is he going to get enough light threw it? (it is the same
net as nico has for his female veiled, if you look at his latest threads with
pictures of her fat belly)

4. other wild bugs. will other crazy wild bugs venture into his cage and
cause problems if he eats them?

5. well water. i have well water outside, and i might have the sprinkler on
spraying him (thos rainbow like sprinklers that go left to up to right, you know?) and will this freak him out due to the cold water? will the hard water
be bad for him?

6. any other dangers that i cant think of, that you mention.

thank you for you help.

These little monsters :D that you talked about is a worrisome problem. Can you put him somewhere out of their sight?

I can't answer this Q cause i do not know exactly how windy it gets. It might be a good idea to build a permanent cage instead.

yes. Bee stinger has toxins that are dangerous to small animal. if your chameleon provoke them, they will sting him

I think it is safe to say that sunlight will pass through enough light in netted cage. The only time you should worry is when you use glass or plastic.

Potentially, yes.

5. well water. i have well water outside, and i might have the sprinkler on

Why not put him away from that wet zone and get rid of this problem altogether.

Birds. Raven and crows sometime are notorious. Make sure you use strong enough material and small hole net, so they cannot peck their way through.

thank you for you help.

Hope that helps

with the kids, no they are little monsters. they are a firemans kids so they
do whatever they want. the fireman never watches them, and i have seen
his two year old walking into the busy street that is like 3 houses down
from where they live. they ride their golf cart everywhere also.
i dont have a back yard becuase i sold my 2 acres to them monsters so they
can live there. boo. but i have a large side yard that sits on the culvasac.

i will be out there mostly the whole time he is out there, so i dont think the
birds will get him.
i do have canadian geese that have been coming to my yard for the last
4 years and they sit and eat there mostly all day, they wouldent
bother him will they?
i also have a stray cat that lives under my pourch, i dont think she will do
anything to him because she is always by one of the doors asking for food.

thank you dodolah
