Well, I just discovered Osang backed into a deep tunnel in her laying bin. I guess it was time to lose some weight! Shes been really fussy the past few days, and not eatting.

Lets all hope for a small clutch, and a speedy recovery! These eggs will be infertiles;)

EDIT: "In" her hole.... Typing error in the title.... I swear I is a gud speller normally!!

Well for heaven's sake let us know!!Ii have worried, with you, about her for toooooooooo long. We need to get on with things & you can tell her I said so.:D

RaWRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! :mad::confused::mad::confused::mad::confused::mad:

False alarm #263! She filled in the hole again , and no eggs.

Whats with this girl??

She digs a deep hole/ tunnel, and backs her butt in it, and sits there for 5-6 hours and probably laughs at me!

She never saw me watching her, the laying substrate is fine, she just wont do it! She just likes to give me false hope, and stress me to no end.

I guess like any woman, we will work on her watch.....I give up...

Filling the hole in and tamping it down just as if she had laid eggs could be a sign that she is unable to lay her eggs.

Thanks for responding Kinyonga,

She has been digging test holes and so forth for a while, some she leaves and some she fills. Theres really no pattern to her methods.

She has always been a full looking girl, and by that I dont mean overweight, just robust. When I remove her to physically examine her, she doesn't feel like she has any eggs in her really, no aparent bulges or lumps.

This last hole was not completly filled in, Is it possible she will return to it to re-dig it? She leaves me scratching my head. When I came back in to peek in to see if she was still in it, I found her in her basking spot. I proceeded to her cage and she looked the same as always. After digging that hole I figured she was hungry and thirsty, so I offered 3 jumbo silks with calcium and it was followed by a extended misting period. She ate 2 of the 3 worms and drank for about 30 seconds. I then removed the bin and went throught it to see if she dropped any eggs, and came up empty handed. The bin was then replaced and lights went out.

I know the substrate is suficient, since she was able to dig a text book tunnel. In addition to the bin is a small ficus tree off to one side, and the lower branches drape over to provide perfect cover to the entire bin. The bin is roughly 14" wide and 14" tall and opaque. I am doing every thing I know of by the book. I guess I should have stated that this is the first full tunnel shes dig and backed into, the rest were never this deep and uniform.

Any additional thoughts Kinyonga?

Thank you very much,
Jay

Jay; How is she doing? From the picture it looks like eggs over her back leg. She might need a vet visit and one of those oxytocin shots. I sure hope she's going to be ok. Jann

I had a girl like that and I finally bred her. All the eggs were infertile, but she laid 82 eggs. She is having some kind of urge to lay and at least she is digging. If she stops digging I would get her a shot of oxytoxin..

The "bump" over their back legs is part of their anatomy, you will see it in many female Veileds especially.
