orange/yellow part in urates

I've noticed his urate is becomming orangey yellow which clearly means hes not drinking, although I mist him quite frequently (2-3 times a day) and for about 5 minute sessions each time he doesn't appear to be drinking it infact, he runs scared! I also leave my "big dripper" on when i go out which is only for usually about 4-5 hours at a time (I only do 4 hours a day at college but plus travelling etc). I've also tried leaving the big dripper on during misting but still no response and im getting rather worried now

Oh i nearly forgot, he's a 5 month old male veiled...

What percentage of the urates is orange/yellow?
25% or so is normal and fine as long as the rest is white.
Silkworms are great for helping to hydrate chameleons!

i have noticed that my chams urates are mostly white but kind of wrinkly and have a small amount of yellow stuff at the end. is it ok that they are wrinkly?

tryme, i think 5 months is ok to have a shower routine.
why don't you do it at least once every 2 days, until the poo start to look normal.
do it for 30 to 45 minutes per session.

I need to get hold of a fake plant or something don't want to ruin my tub lol but I will do at some point. I'm a bit worried though because he hates being handled so i'm a bit lost as of what to do.

Personally, I am not a big fan of the shower idea for veileds.
It won't hurt them ... and I'm not saying don't do it ...
I just find it to be pretty unnecessary. The exception would be (of course) an extreme case of dehydration or a chemical spill?

I think your veileds urates sound fine. There will always be a bit of orange/yellow in there and sometimes they are a little dry and wrinkly.
I prefer when they are more moist, but .... I don't think it's anything to worry about. Your misting is sufficient ... is there a dripper or any other way for him to get water during the day when you're not home?

Tryme, does the urate color is yellow and orange? not just the inside?
How much is the yellow part?
I have the pic of dehydrated poo in my blog.
That's the advance case.
If it looked like that, then a shower will help hopefully rehydrate it back.
You might want to schedule an appointment soon if the shower does not help.

that's good to hear.
a shower will definitely help to alleviate that.

While reading thru similar threads ive come to figure that chams pee and poop at the same time....

I caught my chameleon "peeing" it wasnt poop or a legit urate...
It honestly was like droplet of water coming from... u no where.
but what raised a flag was that it was a bit orange.. orange enough to make
me right a reply... i shouldve taken a pic..

Ive seen my cham drink water and ive been misting 3-4 times a day. i try to keep the humidity up.

I found an easy way to make sure they drink when i got my first cham. Use a spray bottle, put it on the finest stream (so as not to spray all over it's face), and spray the side of it's mouth. It will absorb into the mouth right before your eyes. When i first saw it disappear into it's mouth almost as fast as it got there, i felt like i hadn't even sprayed it lol. After a while, when they get even more used to it, you will see the crack of their mouth even slightly part so they can get more water. And just spray until they turn around or walk away. That's how mine tells me he's had enough. If he just stops to swallow, let him do that and then go back to spraying the side of his mouth.
