Hi
I bought this male about two months ago when he was 3 months old. I am used to veileds and panthers so he is growing real slow. Everytime i look at other peoples pics of the same species at the same age he looks smaller and not as developed as far as horns and colour go. Here are some pics if I could get a secnond opinion. It doesnt matter either way as im picking up another of the opposite sex soon. The pics are not great and he has his eyes closed due to me taking the pics just before lights went out. Any input would be great!

Could you get some clearer pics of the tailbase? Its hard to judge by looking at these pics as they are kinda fuzzy

I will take some tomorrow as he is fast asleep now and lights have gone off. Would you say he is around 5 months? He coule be younger which is why I wonder why the size different is so large when I see pictures of 5 months old males of the same species.

Bradley, I know Monty is a Xanth (and therefore bigger generally than your baby), but this is a pic of Monty at 4 months old. He weighed 10g and he didn't really start growing a lot until after about 6 months.

I think male and 2-4 months old. Does he close his eyes with the lights on?

This was 10 mins before lights out so he had went to slepp as usual. During the day up untill it gtes dark outside he doesnt close his eyes.

Thanks Tiff. I may try and weigh him on friday. I need some more accurate scales though as mine only does whole grams.

I believe you have a male. They have more robust horns than the females from when they are very young into adulthood. I find this the easiest way to sex them at that age. In 2 to 3 more months he will begin to acquire his adult colors & his gender will become more evident.

Thanks for the replies. he seems to be doing well. Ging to try some more feeder items this weekend. he gets crickets and FF atm. I have tried dubias today but he didnt touch them. going to try some frshly shed mealworms at the weekend. Any other suggestions?

Silkworms or bean weevils? He's a cutie but they grow so painfully slowly! I still don't think Monty is full adult size yet and he is 14 months old.

try walking sticks and flys, what I know is that jacks loves them.

btw so the best for the chams growing is have them outside in the natural sunlight, they respond verry well to this.
