Opening mouth

ive noticed my Jackson chameleon will randomly open his mouth any idea what that means?

Is he under his basking spot when doing this?

No he was not..

No. I was walking by and I peeped in his home like I always do and I saw him opening his mouth for like a good 10 seconds. I’m not sure what that means

No he was just doing his thing. Only with his mouth opened lol

well then hes probably thermo-regulating because jacksons open their mouths to warm up or cool down, whats your basking temp like and where in the cage was he also how big is your enclosure

His basking is mid 70s he’s in a screen cage I want to say 16x16x24 he’s only about 2 months old so he isn’t too big for it he was in the middle behind some foliage

well hes probably trying to cool down if hes hiding in some foliage with his mouth open, I assume theres not much temp gradient in a small cage

If he’s doing it when he isn’t basking it is cause for concern but not panic. Was he making any popping noises?

Doesn't seem like anything to worry about

My 4 month old Jackson does the same.. they open their mouth to regulate the temperature
