Oops! I hope his tongue is ok!!

So I just went in and fed my Ambanja, DZ, a wax worm. When I put my hand in there he was fine and looking at it, then all of the sudden he puffed up and started to lunge, mouth open, so I pulled back a bit. In the same motion he shot out his tongue and snagged it but also snagged my finger. I didn't pull fast or hard but it did move him forward a bit. He seems ok, but I'm hoping it didn't injure his tongue. I did get him to eat another just to make sure he could still use it and he did fine. Usually he contemplates and does the pre food dance where he moves back and forth with his tongue out just a bit before taking anything so this was weird.

And then I just got on here and read about the other poor baby who's tongue was ripped off on a branch! Now I'm extra paranoid!

I'm sure ur just being paranoid, however when I used to hand feed lola I'd always have open palm to avoid any unnecessary injury/distress and it's easy for her to fire at!!

This other dude hasn't elaborated any further so who knows what and how his tongue came off, sounds awful though ay...

It was with an open palm. He hates it when I try to pinch anything in my fingers. He's very picky. lol

The only time Leif ate a hornworm, he shot his tongue at it, made contact, but the worm was on a leaf and he had to move his body towards the worm so he could reel in his tongue and eat it. Scared the **** out of me so bad that I haven't tried hornworms since. Plus he just doesn't genuinely seem to like them.
Anyways, he seems fine now and this happened about a month ago.

DZ definitely was stuck and I tugged him a bit. Scared the crap out of me. He's never flared up, lunged and still shot his tongue at the same time before. I honestly thought he was trying to bite me. I've never had a Cham dislike me so much. He's kinda hurting my feelings.

He needs to get over it so I can get him outside. So far I've only managed that once.
