One eye won't open on a baby veiled

I got a new baby chameleon about a week ago. When I got her I think that she was about two weeks old or so, maybe an inch long. I have her in a half gallon plastic cage with a 13w repti glo 10.0 uvb bulb. I turn on the light at 7am, and off at about 10 pm. She has been eating 40 or more fruit flies a day. When I first got her she was sluggish, and kept her eyes closed alot. She also appeared to itch them on the branches. She seemed to get better when I got some zilla tropical mist (humidifying spray). She seemed better for only 4 or 5 days, then symptoms returned in just one of her eyes. We also gave her zoo med's reptivite with d3, a week ago. What should I do? I also called a local reptile vet, and he told me he could not help much. He had no meds for me to give her. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

13w repti glo 10.0 uvb bulb is a coil bulb. the new bulbs are suppose to be safe. the older manufactured bulbs cause problems as your describing but we need to see more on your care to be sure this is the cause.

please fill out the form as stated above. :)

Is all you have on her the coiled bulb? No heat?

You should have a small 40watt light she can get up to for just a small amount of heat (too much is bad at this age).

Also, ditch the coiled bulb entirely until he is 3-4 months of age. I notice a lot of my reptiles are still sensitive to the type of brightness that comes off even the new coiled bulbs, and I do not use them for any animals under 3 months of age while they are developing the most.

I do use 5.0 linear tube lights however, and this provides enough heat for them at the 0-1 month age as long as they can get right up close to it.

Humidity has a lot to do with eye health as well. However, too much humidity in a small chameleon cage with little ventilation will lead to bacterial and respiratory problems.

What I would do is......get a linear 5.0 bulb. If she can't get close to it, use a 25 or 40 watt bulb but make sure the cage doesn't heat up and cook her.

When you are spraying her, spray the leaves around her but NOT her directly.

Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?-zoo med's reptivite I strongly recommend you getting some plain phos free calcium for every feeding and using reptivite only twice a month.
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use?- zoo med's tropical mist spray How often and how long to you mist?-cupple squirts in AM and PM Do you see your chameleon drinking?-noVERY important to provide your chameleon with water. just a couple of sprays will not be sufficient for life. you need to buy a cheap spray bottle and mist 2-3 times a day for 2-5 minutes each session. when you spray spray aroudn the chameleon and let the outside of the spray pattern fall on the chameleon. THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings.-black and yellow Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?-no The yellow suggest your chameleon is not getting enough water.
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.-no

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? plastic 1/2 gallon would like to see pics of this. sounds extremely small.
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?-13w reptiglo 10.0 uvb 7AM to 10PM check my previous post. I would recommend changing this bulb out for a florescent uvb. I would also put the chameleon on a 10-12 hour light schedule.
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)?-not sure Lowest overnight temp?no less than 68 How do you measure these temps?-dont one important key in keeping chameleons is to provide proper temps in your girls environment. in the size of cage you are using you may or may not need a regular house bulb to provide the proper temps for your baby. GET A TEMP GAUGE ASAP!@
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? -don'tbabies need humidity more so than adults. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO MONITOR!
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? -none
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? -bedroom low traffic

from the care listed above these are probably directly related to your issues.
