One eye won't open on a baby veiled

I got a new baby chameleon about a week ago. When I got her I think that she was about two weeks old or so, maybe an inch long. I have her in a half gallon plastic cage with a 13w repti glo 10.0 uvb bulb. I turn on the light at 7am, and off at about 10 pm. She has been eating 40 or more fruit flies a day. When I first got her she was sluggish, and kept her eyes closed alot. She also appeared to itch them on the branches. She seemed to get better when I got some zilla tropical mist (humidifying spray). She seemed better for only 4 or 5 days, then symptoms returned in just one of her eyes. We also gave her zoo med's reptivite with d3, a week ago. What should I do? I also called a local reptile vet, and he told me he could not help much. He had no meds for me to give her. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

13w repti glo 10.0 uvb bulb is a coil bulb. the new bulbs are suppose to be safe. the older manufactured bulbs cause problems as your describing but we need to see more on your care to be sure this is the cause.

Is all you have on her the coiled bulb? No heat?

You should have a small 40watt light she can get up to for just a small amount of heat (too much is bad at this age).

Also, ditch the coiled bulb entirely until he is 3-4 months of age. I notice a lot of my reptiles are still sensitive to the type of brightness that comes off even the new coiled bulbs, and I do not use them for any animals under 3 months of age while they are developing the most.

I do use 5.0 linear tube lights however, and this provides enough heat for them at the 0-1 month age as long as they can get right up close to it.

Humidity has a lot to do with eye health as well. However, too much humidity in a small chameleon cage with little ventilation will lead to bacterial and respiratory problems.

What I would do is......get a linear 5.0 bulb. If she can't get close to it, use a 25 or 40 watt bulb but make sure the cage doesn't heat up and cook her.

When you are spraying her, spray the leaves around her but NOT her directly.

Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use?- zoo med's tropical mist spray How often and how long to you mist?-cupple squirts in AM and PM Do you see your chameleon drinking?-noVERY important to provide your chameleon with water. just a couple of sprays will not be sufficient for life. you need to buy a cheap spray bottle and mist 2-3 times a day for 2-5 minutes each session. when you spray spray aroudn the chameleon and let the outside of the spray pattern fall on the chameleon. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

GET A TEMP GAUGE ASAP!@

ive posted in the quote things that need fixed asap. a multiple of reasons can be causign your chameleons issue. it will only get worst and with out change this chameleon wont have a long life.
