One eye closed?

He just said to keep an eye on him for the next couple days and keep flushing it. If it's not better soon I'll probably go get a second opinion somewhere else.

I had the same problem about 2 months ago. Just out of the blue he shut his left eye. I noticed him rubbing it sometimes. I also noticed he couldn't eat either because he couldn't focus on a locust (ie: judge the distance) I tried misting his eye with water but he'd only open it for a short while. I thought he might be dehydrated so I force fed him some Hydro-life for a couple of days. During these 2-3 days I turned off the tubular light because I read he might have become snow blinded by it. As soon as I noticed his eye was open I fed him some locusts. My cham is fine now but I'm not sure what exactly cured him. Just to note though I had not fed him in 4 days before his eye had suddenly closed so maybe he was run down. (My local pet shops couldn't get live food that week). Try the light off first because its the least stressfull and go from there.

I'm still using the long tube type. I read the coil is type is too strong by a few people now. If it was the light he could have been too close to it for a bit too long. My cham usually ends up sitting with his left eye facing the bulb thats why I thought it might be that. I have more places for him to get shelter from the light now aswell. Hope your cham recovers. Shut eyes is never a good sign.

I had the same problem with my male ambilobe. Tried showers and it worked for a while but he would close his eye again after a couple of days. I then got some silkworms and after a week of feeding those he opened his eye and stopped scratching it against branches. Not sure why this worked but 2 weeks after running out of silkworms, he went back to scratching. I can only speculate that maybe the silkies were better for hydration but I really don't know. My vet could not really find anything physically wrong either. I got the same result you did from the vet visit so I have been feeding silkworms as a supplement ever since and his eye seems better. That was 8 months ago and he has been doing fine.

PS. I have the tube flourecent from zoomed. Reptisun UVB 10.0 middle of the top of his cage.

Thanks enigmacell and reptoman. It's nice actually hearing from people that experienced this instead of people speculating.

Update: My chameleon still won't open his eye, even with rinsing a couple times a day. He eats just fine and acts completely normal otherwise.
