On top of cage

Hello, I recently got my juvenile veiled chameleon (3-4 months) from FL Chams a few days ago. He has been walking along the roof of the cage a lot and I was just wondering if that could indicate any problems? He is in a 2x2x5 cage, has a "tube" UVB, and his basking spot ranges from 83-86F. The humidity is usually in the 50's and spikes when I mist. I have been feeding him baby crickets which I gutload with veggies and although I know mealworms aren't that healthy for him, I offer some when he turns down crickets because they were the only worms my local petstore had available that weren't too large. I plan on ordering BSF larvae and baby hornworms within the next few days. Thanks!

No they will walk on the top just to explore. Make sure that there is at least 5 inches between the top of the cage and the basking bulb so your cham doesn't get a burn

Also, when he came he was shedding and basically its all off except a small piece on his head. Im a little worried about it just because whenever the mister comes on, he runs from it. So do you guys have any recommendations? I have read about people putting a plant in the shower and spraying the wall, but he is real weary of me so I don't think I would be able to get him out of the cage.

The shower trick is usually used for dehydrated chams. As long as his humidity is good that little bit of shed will come off on its own. Let your new guy settle into his new home, you just got him you don't want to stress him out by fooling with him a lot. Check out the care sheets on here too.

How much cover is near the cage top? My Cham walked on the top of the cage when I had to temporarily remove her plants and she was exposed. I think she was trying to hide.
