So our last batch of crickets we got June 29th. we bought 3/4 size crickets since my girl was eating 3 at a time of the younger ones. 1k crickets and half of them are chirpers . So facing a problem of trying to find a place to keep them where ants and wild lizards cant get them and so we can sleep at night. Right now the crickets are in the reptile room which is right next to our room! They chirp pretty much non stop ALL DAY LONG!!!

I've been looking into roaches but cant get them shipped here since the temperatures range from 90 to 105 degress! I'm getting tired of the crickets but up in the air of what to do with these guys! Please help with any ideals lol thanks!

only thing i have found to slow down the chirping is to cool down where they are they hotter it is the faster they chirp and the colder it is the slower

I have a few that are chirping too and I'm thinking about ripping off their wings! I can't stand hearing them :(
Well they actually make the chirping with their legs, haha.
when i had them i thought they were cool kinda made me think i was sleeping outside lol
Where I used to live (bug heaven, I would make a living selling bugs from there), we had crickets EVERYWHERE. They would prevent you from sleeping. ONE would be in the corner of the room (or so you thought), and you would never find it, because the sound waves bounce off the walls. So you would turn on the light and the chirping would stop. Turn the light off, chirping continues... It really, really... sucked.

haha here in the supper u can hear the crickets from the dmv which is like 2 blocks away. very very loud

I keep a cricket in my room just for the chirping. Drives my daughter nuts but I love sleeping with the noise. I also keep a male tree frog by my bed, I actually love the sounds :)

The only thing I know to do is get smaller crix as they do not make noise, but I don't know how to handle the 1000 you already have. I would not advise keeping them outside or in the garage as the heat will kill them.

Who needs the sounds of nature CD's when you have a live orchestra in your bedroom. lol

Swayne8998- Are you sure they make the noise with their legs? I'm pretty sure it's with the males wings.....at least part of it is with the wings....no?

They rub the ends of their legs together and it makes a chirping noise. Strange, but true. I think the wings are just for show, just like dubia roaches... trying to look all mean with those wings that don't do crap... lol

That's very interesting. Then I guess ripping off those bad boys back legs would be a solution. I can feed them to my venus fly trap. I'm messing, I'll just suffer with the chirping, I can't bring myself to mutilate innocent insects....they don't have the brightest future ahead of them as it is. They can enjoy chirping for another night.....It may be their last.

Lol I know what you mean. But sometimes I'm tempted... And ripping the legs off prevents them from jumping around too!

I threw a blanket over them and closed the closet door... Can't hear them but hoping it doesn't get too hot. Room temp is sitting at 73 degrees (lowest it will go without opening ac cent to the room

Sucks that it's so hot here. Crickets and wax worms aren't much a variety. By the time we do get ready to order new feeders we will be moving :(

doesn't the noise come froms legs and the wings? after i got rid of their wings its much more quiet. What I do is I grab them at the end of their wings and they do the rest for themselves ;) That way my conscience is clear and it's less noisy. Win win! ;)

I can't stand the noise either.I usually buy my crickets at a size just before they develop wings. The noise may come from their legs but they don't chirp till they develop wings. But I still get the odd winged cricket and if they get loose in the house it drives me nuts I just want to step on them if I can find them.
