I know you guys are not going to believe it but I went and got that 4 yr old panther from the guy who posted on here! From what I can tell he has gular edema(look at the pic and tell me what ya think) and there are two spots where his scales on each side are a little suspect. According to the owner, it has been like that for about a year and a half! I made an apointment for thurs with the vet to check him over. Am hoping to get a fecal by then. Right now he is outside sunning in his cage. Going to the depot to get some new plants. here are a few pics. Check out his neck. I am pretty sure that is edema. It feels like fluid. Now the question is this? The man I got him from did not supplement much at all So what else do you think can cause that ? I have heard about over supplementation but that is just not the case here. well here are few pics. Can you believe....I DID IT!!!! now I am 2.0 instead of 1.0!!! lol he weighs in a whopping 267 grams! I hope it is not all water weight!! He is not the most colorful. I never realized how beautiful Romeo is!!!! one thing he is the friendliest and so docile which he really nice. He has been sunning and crawiling around his cage. Over all he seems very healthy. Just the swelling around the neck. Any feedback will be appreciated!!! Thanks guys!!! off to the depot I go!

Carol I am so excited for you....more then that I am so excited for you new Sambava as well!!! You are going to give him such an awesome home! I bet he is going to love it with you! Time to change your signature line! lol:)

Congrats Carol!!! Good for you! What locale did he tell you he was? It does look like edema to me but I will let the more knowledgeable people comment on that ;)

it def loooks like edema, but now who knows if he never got supplemente as to waht caused it.

he looks teh total opposite of romeo.

and im with some tlc from you, he will get bright again...

Congrats! wahts his name?

so glad hes nice and friendly and found you!!!!

i would agree with the edema, momma had it and looked identical. what was his supplimenting sched,
glad yo got him Carol, im sure he will have a great life with you.

Yeah that looks like gular edema Carol. When Hulk/wc mitsio came to me he had that also. I just quit supplementing almost all together and just made sure his feeders stayed gutloaded. It took almost 6 months to go away fully.

If it isnt edema plz tell us what it is? I'd just keep him outside as much as you can and cut him back as much as possible on the supps. Thats what I did anyway....

Oh & he looks nice Carol. Glad he went to a great forever home. Sucks when they bounce around....

from what ive spoken with her abou thim, this guy was rarely supplemented at all.

Yea, from the pics he looks like a Mitsio, he looks pretty cool! Congrats Carol!

You should name him Casanova, so you have two loverboys ;)

CAROL! You were the one person I could look up to and make myself believe that it is okay to have just one cham. Now, what am I going to do! (Don't say get another cham!)

Oh, and congratulations, by the way!

Deb

thanks everyone! he says he is sambava. he has the ubar butI don't know. I think he got him from FL chams like 4 yrs ago. So I am assuming they should know. His colors are very bland compared to Romeo and his eyes are black.. i gotta stop comparing. I will see what the vet says on thursday. Oh by the way his name is Leonard, so i am just going to call him Lenny! He is going to have the good life that is for sure. Florida sunshine everyday! Off to revamp the cage before it gets dark. He is soo friendly. Such a sweet cham!

goodness Carol this is just so wonderful as I can heat the happiness in your words! He is going to be as happy with you and as you are with him!

I hope he can live atleast a few more years or so. He will be treated like a king! I have to figure out where he is gonna sleep tonight! Until I get him to the vet and find out everything. As I said he has a couple of scales that look kinda funny tome and I wanna make sure it is not a fungus and something that can be passed on to Romeo. They will share the same free range from time to time(but at different intervals) so I just wanna be sure. Romeo hates him. I showed him the new cham and he flared up and opened his mouth. The new guy did nothing! Then Romeo was hanging on his door of his outdoor cage cause he could see him on my deck. he was "let me at him" it was so funny!

That's great news! Congrats Carol!
He looks nice..;-)
Hope you can sort his edema soon and I'm pretty sure he'll have few more years to live in your care! Happy years!:)

I'm so Happy for You Carol and the cham he is in good hands now and he also is beautiful in his own special way. Way To Go!!!!!:D

time will tell what he is I guess. He is so different from Romeo if he is Sambava. I am hoping I can get the edema cleared up and get him out in the good ole florida sunshine everyday. I still am in shock I actually went and got him. I been thinking about this for TWO years!
