The oldest I personally had was a male Veiled that was about a year old when I bought him (my first chameleon) and died (presumably of old age) around 6 or 7 years later. It was 15 yrs ago when I got him, so the memory is a little fuzzy. I had a female Veiled (2nd chameleon) that produced many clutches of eggs that lived around 5 or 6 yrs, if I recall. All the others I have had were either sold or placed with friends, so I don't know their longevity, or died as a result of an stupid error on my part (e.g., baby chameleons in screen cages in MI in the winter = dehydration = stupid).
I believe liddy kammer told me she had a panther that lived for 9 yrs also but maybe it was the chameleon you are talking about. There was a thread going around awhile like this and one guy had a veild that lived 13 yrs. That is pretty much unheard of as far as I know.
