Okay so i just found out that one of my friends has a freaken cool panther chameleon! And he has a. Bearded dragon. I was okay nothing to crazy that's cool. So then i went to house to look at them.... I couldn't believe it! Idk how he did it but he had them living together in the same cage! Besides that being really weird and i thought impossible.. The wildest thing is still to come! THEY CAN'T BE SEPARATED OR ELSE THEY GET SO MAD TO THE POINT WHERE THEY WILL BITE HIM UNTIL THERE TOGETHER AGAIN THAT'S.WHEN THEY CALM DOWN!! He said that the chameleon only likes crickets, and the dragon only likes meal worms. So they don't get in each others food way! its too crazy. I hope i can go visit him so i can take videos and pictures.
Someone tell me how this works? My friend doesn't even know why.there.like.that!
It doesn't, plain and simple. You are missing something, your friend is missing something, or you aren't telling the whole story.
Bearded dragons are DESERT animals that require LOW humidity, HIGH temperatures and a generally dry environment. Bearded Dragons live on the ground and/or smooth rock layers.
Chameleons are TROPICAL animals that require HIGH humidity, MODERATE temperates and a generally wet environment. Chameleons live in brush layers and branches.
There is no possible way to keep these animals together. Although the animals themselves will not be aggressive towards eachother, their environments are so dramatically different that it is absolutely impossible to successfully keep them together.
Your friend might be pulling it off for a few days or even weeks....but his animals WILL be weak/sick/unhealthy over a long enough period of time.
And most likely your friend would not be able to identify these signs (as these animals excel at hiding them) and would think "he's doing a great job" until "all of a sudden" he has a death....
I would be absolutely fascinated to see pictures of this setup...unless of course you are talking about literally a "full room" sized setup in which case that could be possible but would take a lot of constant control to maintain...though I'd love to see pics of something like that (done right) even more!
EDIT: I see I jumped into this late....from the sound of it he does have a large, floor to ceiling setup, but that would still be very very very difficult to pull off right....
Also, owning snakes doesn't mean anything. (commonly kept) snakes are quite possibly the easiest animals in the world to care for. Colubrids and BPs.....leave a bowl of water and feed every 2 weeks....easier than a cat or dog tbh and has absolutely no bearing on one's ability to keep exotics. On the other hand if he's breeding ATBs and ETBs...maybe..
