i was talking my 3 1/2 month old chameleon outside for some sun time and i bumped into a chair with his cage...pretty hard

Agreed with Carol. Unless he got hurt, there's not much to worry about. May have stressed him out a bit, but he should settle down.

It takes time. Usually around 5-6 months they start to show a lot of color.
