well, Olive topped out at a whopping 143 grams - thats alot for a Jax! and she started having slugs yesterday - 4 yesterday - 6 so far today- my ? is- why is she not having them all in one day like she did with the babies- I am a bit worried about the 2 days - but she seems fine- doing her thing- never even went off her feed - and I can tell slugs are much easier on her than the babies were - she was to the point of "over burden " - even her ribs were starting to get a "sprung " look- she and Max were going to the vet Monday- I may still take her , but glad she is getting this out of the way  - I hope there are no babies at all........as cute as they are- I dont want fall/winter babies :p

I think Olive is fine having the slugs over a period of time. Mind you all my knowledge is from egg layers. But they can lay a clutch across a couple days. It is not the norm but it does happen. I an happy Olive is passing the slugs and hope she is finished soon. Then she can go back to her crabby self.:D

stress

I think, mind you I said think, it may be from stress. The young female I brought home that delivered early, let hers go a couple days after I brought her home. From talking to several people, a cage move, new home, cleaning a cage, basically anything that scares or stresses a female, can induce the process. Once the hormones are triggered, it may be impossible for her to stop it, even if she becomes comfortable or rested after the incident. I fully believe the move is what caused my premie babies. I know she was extra young, but I had a female her size before give birth to healthy babies, just a smaller litter. Those guys ALL made it and are as healthy as can be. I actually still have them all,I don't want to sell them early while I have a chance to make really good healthy youngins. Good luck with future litters.

opinion difference

You were calling the yellow egg a slug. I called that just an unformed egg. The slug for me, was a dead half- or -misformed baby. Something that looked like the puffiness had been removed from the baby. Just a flattened piece of meat. I hope I am not being too graphic. It is good though to have differences discussed. Everyone sees or names something different.
