Not using his tongue

Is he using his tongue like a beardy and not shooting it out, or like not using it at all and just catching with teeth? Do you see him licking his lips with his tongue?

All of my tongue injuries resulted in eating like a beardy, so still stuck it out a bit to stick to the food, and still used the tongue for licking off leaves and mouth cleaning.

The more serious injuries are the tongue is cut off, or is swallowed.

I tried a meal worm out of my hand and his tongue shot out and grabbed it so maybe he's fine

Hmmm…have we given you any guidance about feeding? Gonna share some graphics to help you out a bit. Mealworms are ok once in a while blue moon or in a pinch, but not a good staple feeder. There are much healthier options out there. My favorites are silkworms and roaches, but I offer a variety of everything I can. It’s equally important to make sure to feed your feeder insects well so that they will be nutritious. A well fed and healthy bug is much more nutritious than a starved sick bug. :) If you have any questions, ask away. Oh…never tong feed. That is probably the top cause of tongue injuries.
