Not hand feeding, but close!

Today when I took Reptar out I put a superworm on my bed and my fist (that he was sitting on) on the bed, and while still on my hand he ate the superworm. I tried not too much longer later out of my hand, but no luck. I put him in his cage and he ate like 3-4 crickets quickly. Is he that scared of me where he doesn't want to eat out of my hand?
