Not a morning chameleon

Otto is not a morning chameleon.

This is not needed advice but I'm fishing for similar experiences. My cham is always pissed off in the morning. He has a routine of going up to the basking spot, and then puffing up like a big angry, pissed off veiled, and holding that for a good hour or less.

I always thought it was amusing until I thought that maybe he's constipated? Because I do know he always poops in the morning. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

At times, when Guido wanted to warm up fast in the morning he would do his "saucer" imitation, making his body large and flat in order to expose as much of his side as possible to the basking light. Sort of like a frisbee shape. He will hold this pose until reaching the desired temp, then go back to normal. Then, shortly after that, he would walk over to his latrine area and poop.

He doesn't do it so much any more. But then, these days, he poops in the shower.

Perhaps otto may just be wanting to warm up real good before pooping?

I totally forgot that.

That's the answer too, because he will sometimes actually flatten out and then angle his body sideways to catch rays.

Of course!

thanks gesang!

Clyde actually is a morning cham. He will head to the corner of his cage between 10-11pm pausing near the front of the cage to see if I will feed him once more (sometimes I do). He eventually ends up in the back corner near the lower wattage light. When he gets there I know to turn the lights off on him. First thing in the morning when I get up, I flip all his lights on and he makes a dash to his bright bulb. Almost like clockwork.

I call it the "Satellite-dish Pose" but no one ever said I was inventive...

Its hard to tell from the photo, but hes actually concaved inwards, not just flattened but actually folded a good 15 degrees... crazy.

I am yet to wake up before my little guy. He has some kind of internal clock that wakes him up at like 5:30am and he sleeps at 7pm like clockwork doesn't matter whats going on. But that is exactly how he looks every morning at around 6:30 when he starts warming himself up but he also loves sit in the bottom of the cage and bask in the natural sunlight as it rises.

This is one thing that I found fascinating about mine. When the clock hits 3pm on the dot, my cham starts crawling down into the pothos and grabs his favorite branch and crashes until the lights pop on at 7am

I'm just babysitting this guy so hopefully his mom won't mind seeing a pic of him here. :) Anyway, he lateral basks almost constantly so I had to take a pic.

When Mylo does it I call him "pancake chameleon" and say that he is "pancaking" XD

But yeah, every morning Mylo will go to his basking spot, puff out, then yawn. Every morning without fail.
