not a cage, not free range but... a shower?

can she see her reflection in the shower??? if so you want to cover it up with something but it sounds like an awesome idea... We have a walk in shower and it is glass :)

sorry i meant ligh.t.. not heat. it emits a low amount of LIGHT

i'm also afraid that she might get burnt if she were to touch it... it's a small bathroom tbh, but the shower is large enough. it would heat up very quickly with a bulb i'm sure of that

first, you wouldnt put the heater in withher. second, the heater turns itself off when the temp hits the approved setting,a nd will turn back on when the temp drops below whatevef you set it at.

ah, no it's not a glass one, it's an all tile one with a curtain, we dont use it because its too cold to shower in the winter, so i'd rather put it to use

So its too cold for you to use in the winter but you want to put a chameleon in there??? Is this a serious question? if its a shower curtain are you not worried she might climb it, or worse, escape? If i was you i would just stick with a regular cage, but by the sounds of it you have already made your mind up so you wont listen to what people tell you, then you will probably end up back on here in a few weeks or months saying she is ill. Ive seen it too many times. It doesnt sound as though you have the chameleons best interests at heart, more like YOUR best interests to be honest mate.

What if the cham gets out? Are you going to keep the door closed?

I can't imagine there would be much airflow in the bathroom either?

The chameleon won't get out if she designs the set up properly. I removed my shower curtain, and used the rod to hang plants from.

Exactly how cold does it get?

It is very unlikely to drop below 50 at night in your home- even in the basement. 50 is a safe night drop limit for virtually all chameleons.

I doubt you would need any night heating at all.

There used to be a guy (maybe tree fern farms which now works with uromastyx) who bred quads (and maybe montiums) in groups in showers. He bought stand up showers with the intention of using them for that purpose, and he really seemed to like them.

i find it extremely offensive for you to jump to conclusions.

sure, we get brutal winters but we do have a home-heating system and ontop of that i've looked into heaters.

also, i never said i was just going to throw her in there and give her food, i'm obviously going to use preventative measures to ensure her safety, for better or for worse she will have to stay inside. my best interest is her best interest. i've taken consideration for a chameleons needs and have increased the size of the enclosure by instead of using a shower as a shower, using it as an enclosure. This is a 80x80x90 shower and it will be able to allow me to make it as realistic as possible because of its built in drainage and it's size. This way i can have vines left and right

anyway, speaking of which, where can i get a cheap plant for me to engulf the area in? id like to have a ton of plant matter in this bathroom so i can have a great humidity

In my house during the winter, the basement is the warmest place because there is no walkout door and all walls are insulated by the ground. You state that there is no external light so I'm guessing that it is a real basement instead of a basement/walkout room. If that's the case, you should be okay.

Edit. Did not read through the entire post so sorry if this was already covered.

yeah its a real basement, our heater is down here so heat honestly shouldnt be a problem. but it's extremely cold OUTSIDE, so im not sure

as far as ventilation, the door will be open to create a funnel of air from the holes in the shower to the door. ventilation will be fine, it's no different, (mayeb better ) than it was before

You probably will not find plants that large for cheap. Where are you located?

Ficus and dwarf umbrella plants are probably going to be the potted tree-type plants you want. Use the shower curtain rod to hang pothos plants from. All three plants are easy to propagate, so you can buy a few and grow more from the original plants. In a years time, it will be a jungle if you do so.
