Normal shed??

the wee dude

Hiya everyone, first time posting on this forum, but been reading all the useful info for a while, such a good place for cham owners, good work everyone!:) Here's my wee problem, i've had my male yemen for just over 3 months now, with 2 perfect sheds, he started shedding the other night on his head, then a little on his back, it all came off fine, but he's not started shedding the rest of his body yet. He's still eating fine and wandering around his cage. He's between 6 & 9 months old. I heard that when they reach a certain age they can have a sort of constant shed, could that be whats happening? Any info would be great, thanks.

my cham is 7 months old and he just stareted to shed body parts and takes longer 2-4 days or just sheds one week some parts and the other week the rest etc ! so yes as they go older and become adults shedding will take longer - constant shedding periods, or just takes more days when they are at the verge of becoming adults.

Thanks for the reply, thats good to know, i'll just keep an eye on him and see how it goes. He seems fine every other way, cheers:)

As chams age, they dont do ful body sheds as much.

they begin to shed a body part at a time, so it can seem like they are always in a state of shed.

Good to know it's normal then. I know a bad shed can be quite harmful to a cham, so i'm always extra observant when he sheds. I think he likes keeping me on my toes!:D
