What is it like the first time you go to the vet for your chameleon?
What should I expect? What will I tansport Molly in? Will I be worried about how the vet is handling her?

The most important thing is finding a vet that has experience with chameleons, this is not a given. You can transport in a box with soft cloth or paper towel and keep it dark. also collect the chameleons last fecal. You can always call ahead and ask what the vet plans on doing with the chameleon.

Do expect a charge of at least $50 ~ $80 per visit too. Also, bring your chameleon to a Vet experience in reptiles; if you chameleon is too eager to bite they will use anesthesia, they will tell you if you chameleon need surgery; there will be a 50/50 change it will die from anesthesia....that was my first experience....OMG

It is my christmas present from my boyfriend. A 50$-80$ vet visit, it will be ours and her first. I dont think there is anything wrong with her its just we want to make sure she is going to be happy and healthy. Will they touch her roughly? Will they inject her with anything? I might have to be restrained if it looks like they will hurt her!!!

Don't worry :)

Don't worry! The vet will be very gentle with her. Vets also appreciate seeing creatures that are not the normal dog, cat, snake, etc. In my experience they spend extra time for the same charge just because they are so very interested in the chameleon personally. It is a treat for them. Especially to see a healthy one. You are very wise to take it in for a wellness check up. That way the vet's office will already have paperwork set up for your cham and know it's history. It will be much easier to treat it in the future if it does have a problem. Take a fresh fecal in with you. That is a terrific thing to do for your new cham. It will give you much peace in the future knowing that you won't have to wonder about parasites and the issues that result from them. Don't worry....the vet won't inject your cham with anything if it is healthy. He/she will check the eyes and open the mouth to take a look inside. He/she will weigh the cham and feel the limbs and belly. Let us know how it goes after the visit :)
