No Misting At Night?

Sorry- not sure if this a repeat question.

I just saw someone suggest not setting the mister for after night.

I have my mister going off every 1.5-2 hours for 15 minutes, 24 hours.

Should I stop it at night?

yes.
the point of the mister is for them to drink.

sleeping chams dont drink.

besides, this can allow them to develop a respiratory infection.

Depends on the setup. You want it to dry out completely at least once a day or you will get mold etc. If you are "wintering" and without the mister you will only have 30-40% humidity, then you can run it over night since it will be drying out quickly. On the other hand if you are naturally 60-70% it will take much longer to dry out.

Its kind of a juggle, you dont want a wet cage over night, but you dont want super low humidity levels either. If the cage is drying out inbetween mistings at night, you can keep your current schedule.

I mist once in the middle of the night(bath room break for the dogs) during the winter because without it the humidity drops to 35%.

its ok for lower humidity at night.
there is no reason to waste water at night. chams dont drink at night!

haha no i have not.
please explain this novel concept!
Im braced on my elbows, waiting anxiously to read your reply.

:D

Well....errrr..there is sleep walking, right, why not have a little nip in your travels!? :D ;)

Also, can we think of more sentences that end in "at night"?? :p ;) :)

P.S. I shouldnt post if I'm just going to be silly!!

Besides, from what I understand chameleons can even get sores or infections on their feet from holding on to a damp branch every night for too long, like when soldiers got trench foot from standing in wet boots too often. I only heard it once, but it sounded like a plausible reason to not mist at night.

However, I do leave my chameleons outside when the weather is nice and if it rains like last night then so be it, but it doesn't rain every single night like it would in a cage with a misting timer.

I think silliness is needed sometimes.
