Nite Glo Moonlite lamp .. ok ? not ok?

I want to purchase a nite glo moonlite lamp by exo- terra and they state that "The bulb simulates natural moonlight to allow nocturnal viewing without disturbing the animal's day and night cycle. The light emitted is bluish due to the use of blue glass. The heat generated by the bulb is minimal but enough to provide tropical night time temperatures. The lower wattage of these bulbs does not interfere with natural night drops in temperature" ... Does anyone have any problems with using one of these?

I would stay away from it- the light at night can disturb chams and the temperature drop is actually really good for them. These bulbs are completely unnecessary in my opinion.

What kind of cham do you have?

Sorry- I have been replying to your other threads but didn't realize it was all the same person :)

As I said, those bulbs are not really necessary and may actually be more harm than good. Do you want one just so you can see your cham at night or did you have another reason?

What is the ambient temperature in your house at night? So long as it doesn't get below 65 degrees, you are golden.

yah i just checked and its 2 am hear and i got 21 c which is 69 F.... it gets like -20 -30 c which is -5 to -22 f outside in the winter hear so i want to prepare for the drastic decrease in outside air temp, keeps things alot cooler in the house even with a heater blasting all day ...

Rather than getting a bulb for your enclosure, it is probably better overall just to get one of those wall plug in space heaters and heat the room near the cage rather than just the cage. I'm sure someone else will have a better answer but I personally would stay away from the bulb.

the bulb is no harm to the animal, it gives off VERY LITTLE heat (all bulbs give off heat). it is fine for novelty, but are garbage unless in some type of dome or reflector. and even then they arent to good.
