Night temps slowly dropping! Advice needed!

Right, well my night temps are slowly working their way down (they're just below 20'c now) and I was wondering what the best way to keep them up over night? I know this isn't drastic, but I'd like to keep it above 20'c as I keep a veiled, so I'd prefer to tajke action now before it gets potentially any worse!

p.s - I'm in the UK if you were wondering why it gets so cold!

You could use a ceramic heat bulb. If your cage is mesh try covering some of it at least at night.

You veiled would be fine to 18C at night, so if 20C is your night temp you need do nothing.

If its going to continue getting cooler, Try turning on the heat (assuming you have central heating). I use a oil-filled radiator space heater in my chameleon room, that turns on only if the temp gets down to 19C. Warming the room is better than a ceramic heat bulb (as they create only a small hot spot, with heat rising away, rather than an ambient heat)

He's just been used to 20'c so i didn't want to upset his normal routine, you know what chams can be like!

Central heating is on, but this room is sadly a lot cooler than the others (we're waiting for the cavity wall insulation to be finished) so it stays a bit cooler than the rest of the house! I would move him, but he wouldn't have the space elsewhere!

I have an electric fan heater, but it will just cause the temperature to fluctuate wildly, so i might look an an oil filled radiator (just googled them and they're pretty cheap!) Are they effective? And cost effective?

From what I understand he can even stand temps around 10. That's like 50 F right? Though, 15 or above would be best.

The person I bought Tommy from was keeping him in an UNHEATED conservatory! I have no idea of the temps but he said that some mornings you could see your breath out there! My dear l'il man is tucked up safe and warm INSIDE my house now and I'm sure he is much happier now! But, yes, they can withstand cooler temps as long as the daytime temp is warm enough for them.

Yes they are quite effective and more cost effective than electric fan type heaters.

I have never kept calyptratus but they are living in desert like areas. As long as they have enough options to warm up in the morning 15°C shouldn't be a problem. It's just natural

Well, I've reserved myself a heater to pick up tomorrow. Only cost £20 so it's worth it anyway just for the peace of mind! I'll set the thermostat to 17'c, as that seems like an acceptable level with all the discussion above but hopefully, it shouldn't get that low. Unless of course, my thermometers aren't reading the correct temperatures, and it is actually colder than they're leading me to believe? That may well be worth checking tomorrow!
