Hey everyone! Brand new member and new to being a chameleon owner. Our new buddy’s name is yoshi! We him after his former people unfortunately not being able to spend the attention necessary for him. We believe he’s about 6 months old. We just got him 2 days ago, he has been eating well (sometimes right out of my hand) and he moves around his enclosure alot which makes me really hope hes happy being here. I have a lot to learn! His husbandry is pretty meh so im currently upgrading him from a 18”x18”x36” into a 2’x4’x4’ hybrid enclosure that im building.
Super excited to give him best life i can and Excited to be apart of the community. I have soooo many questions so if anyone wants an open eared pupil to teach and discuss with I’d be happy to have anyone reach out.

Welcome to the forum... You can post for a husbandry review in the main part of the forum as well. You will have more eyes on it that way. He does look to have some health stuff going on... casque is thick like an overweight cham would be... BUT I think he may have had a prior injury to the top of the casque like a thermal burn that is causing the thickness to it. Tends to come with infection and fluid in the casque with a thermal burn. Hard to tell by the pics. But if you look at overall body condition on him he is very thin which means that is not excess fat he is holding in the casque.

It will put you on the right path with 100% correct husbandry.

If you are using wood for the cage you are building you must seal the wood so it does not produce VOC's and so it holds up to the moisture from the cage. Water based polyurethane and then it has to gas off for at least a week or two until you can not smell the poly. And for screen you only want to buy aluminum window screen... The other types reduce UVB lighting too much and insects can chew threw it.

I would recommend reading the link Beman provided, chameleon academy is the best place for chameleon knowledge.

Here's the link to the husbandry review questions, just copy and paste them into a new thread in this part of the forum, along with any extra questions you have. The more pictures the better, please provide at least one with the entire cage in frame; including the light placement and surroundings.
