So I have a tank (36 inches high 40 inches wide and 12.5 inches depth) it is made of wood and perspex.

So is it suitable for a chameleon?
If it is what will I need to add it? will I need to make any adjustments (air holes etc)
If its isn't suitable, what would it be suitable for?

And any general advice would be appreciated.

Hello I would go with a full screen cage w/drip tray(4x2x2) from either dragon stand or diy cages depending on your chameleon . Fl Cham's has a chameleon safe plant list of plants you can use in your enclosure. As far as misting I would go with a Mistking especially for someone who's not home to mist at least 2-3 times a day.Anything else you would like help with feel free to private message me .

Sorry I have updated main thread with full measurements and image. I do not have one yet and will be a while before I do. Just setting up the home first mate.

I think the biggest concern with that enclosure would be weather or not it has proper ventilation. Stagnant air can cause respiratory problems. Another issue is it looks like a top open enclosure? Chameleons get stressed when approached from above. That terrarium may be suitable for Pygmy chameleons if heavily planted but not suitable for larger species.

if you could cut out the sides to make screen doors that would be great. I have a enclosure similar to this but it has the screen sides already. Just make sure to get a female so that it’s not too small because males are much larger. Also make sure you use distilled water and also get a background to minimize reflections

It looks like it was originally intended to be a display case, which makes me wonder how it would hold up to constant water. The 12 inch depth also seems too shallow for a panther or veiled, that's only a little more room than they need to turn around. Smaller species may work, but I don't have any experience there.
