Hello Im new to this site and I have been reading on taking care of a chameleon. I have a few questions. Fist, What is a good starter chameleon? How high dose my cage need to be from the floor? cage is a 18x18x36 What is a good temp/humidity for a indoor chameleon?

So far I learned that chameleons need their own space, Need live plants for hiding/confort, I need to gutload the feeders with greens and supplements, A good mist 3 times a day, A drip system, rocks need to be added to the plants soil, and to keep high traffic and breeze away from the cage.

My setup is going to be

- 18x18x36 Screen Cage
- Linier Reptisun 5.0
- 40 Watt Basking Lamp
- Digital Timmer for UVB/Basking Light 8am to 8pm
- Atomated mister every 3 hours for 1 minute
- Live Plants?
- Vines
- A digital Temp/humity guage

If im missing anything or would like to add something please do :D

Looks good, best starter chameleon is a veiled chameleon. The higher your cage from the floor the better, chams feel safer up high. Depending on age of cham and type, for adult veiled temp should be around 75 to 85ish ambient and basking should be around 95, humidity around 60 - 70 should be fine.

You also need to dust the crickets with calcium without D/with D3 and a multivitamin. Search through threads about this.

Real plants are best but fake plants and vines won't hurt as long as non toxic.

Id switch that misting to 1 10min. in the morning(some dont drink till they've had 5 or so minutes of misting), then do the 1 min. misting every other hour, then 10 min. at night 1/2 hr to an hour b4 the lights turn off.
With a Veiled, dont really need the every other hour mistings....

Im considering a panther :D What temps/humidity do they like?

I keep mine outside for the summer.....mist 30mins in morning, 10 mins around 12, then(depending on heat) mist for like 30sec. to 1 minute at each hour. then b4 it goes dark I give them a "quick" 5 min. mist. My misting involve alot more water then the Misters that people use inside on their cages.......think downpour is the better term for the morning and noon times.
Inside(winter) I keep them at around 50%-70% with higher spikes when I mist. Temps are 85 at the basking and gets to 75-78 on the cool side...sometimes down to 70.....depending on ambient temps in my room(I like it cold for me)

I'll take some pics of my misting tomorrow.....
