Newbie Enclosure Review

Hi reader,

I was hoping you could take a look at my setup and double check for me that I've got everything correct for a 3-4 month old veiled male before I get him (Soon!).

Enclosure: 14w x 22l x 30h glass on the bottom half (for humidity), screen on the top half. I also have a 24x24x50 homebrew cage ready for him after he grows enough. Has good PVC drainage system into 5 gallon buckets.

Lighting: Reptisun 5.0 linear tube (18") directly on top of the enclosure (will this burn him if he gets onto the screened top of the enclosure upside-down?). 60W household bulb in reflector dome suspended 1" above the screen top. Lights are on from 8am to 8pm on a timed power-bar. More powerful basking lights are in the works for the big-boy enclosure.

Temperature: 80F in basking spot, 72-74 in the coolest lower corner. Overnight it is 68-72F. Basking spot is 5" below the top of the enclosure (giving 6.5" of distance to the bulb). Closest branch to the UV light is 2" on the cooler side of the enclosure. Basking temps measured with a thermocouple probe directly at the closest site. Gradient is checked with analog thermometers.

Humidity: 25% overnight, 40-80% range during the day. Mistking system controls the daytime levels beginning 45 mins after lights-on. 6 mist sessions per day (every 2 hours) in short bursts (30 seconds or so) to keep the humidity around 60%. First and last are longer 5 minute showers. Not sure how to boost the overnight levels as it's really dry here even though I have a full-room humidifier that runs constantly and I do a heavy-mist 30 mins before lights-off. Analog hygrometer measures humidity at midpoint of enclosure (plans for a digital combo-meter soon as I get the cash).

Plants: 2 Dracaena, 2 Pothos (soil covered in river-rocks) that will be in the large enclosure after he grows. Fake plants and vines in the small enclosure for now giving plenty of cover. The plants are too big to go into the small enclosure. Ficus or Umbrella plant plans once they're back in season here.

Placement: Top of the cage is 6' off the floor in a low-traffic corner, next to a big window to help night temps drop (can keep the curtains closed if need-be to prevent stress from birds/trees etc).

Location: Ontario Canada.

I'm worried specifically about the overnight humidity, and the possibility of the little guy climbing upside down on top of the enclosure and burning himself, which is why I elevated the basking light an inch. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks!
Chad

P.S. I know this isn't the right forum for feeders and such, but I plan to give him a diet of primarily crickets and supers (gutloaded using sandrachameleons recipes) mixed with silkworms, hornworms, and butterworms on a rotating schedule once he's big enough to handle them. I have supplements as well (with and without D3) but I am still looking for a multivitamin I like.

Everything sounds good.
You don't have to worry about overnight humidity. I usually mist my cage about an hour and a half before lights out so its nice and dry when my cham goes to sleep.
