Hi new to the forum and chameleons. I picked one up at the reptile show yesterday and all was going well, eating and drinking the way you all described but now it is morning and he is sound asleep. What are there sleeping habits like?

They should not sleep during the day. They might go to sleep at 7 and be up at 6-7 am, that's a typical sleep schedule.

If you could fill out the "help form" in the health clinic section we can help you figure out if there is something else going on.

They may not wake up right away. May take a little while to start moving around and get under the heat lamp. Do you have your lights on a timer? It is recommended that you keep your lights coming on and going off on a timed schedule. Typically on at 8am and off at 8pm. It should be consistent so doing it manually would not be a good idea. They have a diurnal clock and will know when the lights are about to go off. MIne will start to get into their sleeping position sometimes 30 min to an hour before lights out.

Hello new chameleon owner, I have my lights on 7 to 7 so my lights just came on but the guys are not yet up and ready to go. He will follow the schedule you set for him, it just may take a few days.

If you fill out "how to ask for help" form at the top of the health section we can let you know if the rest of your set up for him is correct.

He was up at around 6 am and moving around fine he even ate and drank. I get up early and most of my other reptiles are night owls so to see him sleeping kinda freaked me out a little
