New vibrant veiled - ageing and feeding help

Hey all!!

I got my new baby veiled, Jordie, over Christmas. He is a pet store Cham but seems to be very healthy. I haven't had a Cham in 10 years and this is very exciting for me.

He LOVES to be handled. Each time I attempt to hand feed he just jumped on my hand and runs up my arm. He's also happy to go back in his enclosure so I don't think he has an issue with that.

I've attached some pics, how old do you think he is? I'm guessing around 6 weeks. He is approx 2.5-3" long, not including tail.

As for feeding, pinheads are very hard to get here (being in a semi remote city near Ottawa, Canada ) so I have opted to get very small crickets. He seems to be eating them with no issues, but it does concern me. They are a bit longer than his head is wide. Thoughts? He is currently being fed 3-4 twice daily. Sometimes he eats them all and come times there is one left.

He is currently in a 18x18 zoomed glass terrarium, at what point should I swap to a mesh enclosure? My plan is a 3x3x5 so I don't want to go to early and have him fall and get hurt, or not be able to hunt because of the size.

Thanks for any help!

Chris.

Very cute. I'm not sure exactly how old he is, but my guess would be less than 2 months old.

I can tell you that those black spots and stripes are stress/fear colours. Baby veileds, even the males, are usually a bright solid green colour. Does he always look like that?

He's really cute and welcome to the forums! I'd say not to hod him so much because those look like stress colors.

Oh shoot, ok thanks! He's virtually always green in his Home. When he comes out he is mostly green and changes sometimes, usually a darker green. He isn't very often the black. But I'll definitely dial back on the handling.
