ok i havent had a chameleon before i have snakes, and tarantulas, a beardie, and a frilled dragon, i want to get a male vield chameleon, i was always told not to use compact bulbs only tubes as it will burn there eyes so with my beardie and frilled i use tube reptisun 10.0 and a 75 watt basking bulb.

ok my questions are:

1. can i use a compact on the cham a reptisun 5.0 compact bulb (coil)?
2. does anyone know of a cheap easy way to make a misting system?
3. i cant get a good answer on a basking temp.
4. i have a 16x16x30 Screen Cage.
5. Whats the benefit of real plants over fake plants?
6. how do people get them to hand feed?

Thanks alot in advance!!

yes you can use the compact 5.0 coil
get a sprayer bottle! lol cheap as they come!
basking temp around 85 degrees
cage size good for young chameleon, need upgraded size for adult
real plants help maintain humidity. Some Veilds will eat them so they have to be safe to consume
Just put a feeder in your hand. open up the cage door and see if your chameleon will try and eat it.

ok thanks alot, i have a sprayer i use for my frilled, but i was reading that they ned it like 3-5 times a day, i work all day and id only be able to spray in the morning and when i get home. i guess i could use a dripper system?

yes both my chams only drink from drippers and they are a great way to provide hydration. You just need to devise a drainage system if you are not gonna be home. I just use a shallow tupperware container to catch the water but someone is always around to empty it. Nothing too deep that your chameleon could drown in. Keep that in mind.. The misting helps bring up the humidity for a period of time and then it will fall back down again. It is also for hydration purposes of course but if you cannot be around then the dripper is the way to go or you will have to get an automatic misting sytem.

ok i changed my mind and i am going for a jacksons i really had my heart set on a jacksons and found a breeder that is somewhat local to me in sacramento, i am going to get a male approx 6 months old, i wanna do local pick up so i can see the cham in person and pik the one i want, i dont like to order animals online (thats just me). so now that i found a source for jacksons im going to go with what i really wanted in the first place!!

Sorry the only UVB and Heat Bulbs I use are from

http://www.lightyourreptiles.com

I could suggest

http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/d3rela18fall.html

if you have a fixture that supports 18 inches and is 15W (but they do have bigger sizes)

I was told 1 year for replacement on these but can be replaced sooner if wanting to be safe, I have been using for years because it seems to be 1% more UVB then the Exo Terra that have about 5% UVB so ive heard. Plus I have not seen any problems in the bulb it's self as far as fading or blacking.

I am happy with the Europe made vs the exo terra possibly China made. (not sure)

hmm never heard of these, has anyone else ever used these bulbs??? thanks for your input!! ive always used reptisun and never had a problem! but i am def going to be looking into these bulbs! thanks again
