Hi Everyone, well it's been a couple weeks since I inherited my little guy and been having problems. I took everyone's advice and he has a proper home with everything needed and all proper temps for his cage. BUT ever since we started the fogger/mister by Zoo Med he hasn't come up to bask. He keeps hanging around the bottom of the ficus tree & pothos plant. I checked his poop and pee and evereything looked good. When I put some dusted & gut loaded meals worms in a dish in the ficus plant he loved them. It was his first time having them. He has a few gut loaded & dusted crickets in there to. He hides all dark & brown during day. He's moving around during day but not up to his basking places. When he sleeps he's so bright green and puffy looking. He looks so pretty sleeping. He's been stressed with such a big move and has been shedding. Is that why he is liking the lower cage where it more moist so it helps with the shed? Any help would be great. Thanxs, Jenn & Avocado :)

Hi and welcome. Your best course of action is to first, click on the link in my signature "Help Form". Fill that guy out, and then post it over in the Health section of the forum with your concerns. You will receive a lot of great advice once you provide all of that info for everyone.

Well honestly the mister/fogger(which you don't really need if you did happen to grab a fogger, they often times cause a URI in chameleons especially Jacksons) is probably spooking him. Especially if you are using old tap water or just water. I would try warming up the water if i were you that may help significantly. Just go to PetSmart or the nearest petstore and buy a small heating pad that they use for beta fish and attach it either on the side or bottom of the water bin. that will make it a more tropical temperature that won't frighten him and make him wanna hide from it. Another thing is the humidity is yes probably helping him shed easily but i doubt he would be at the bottom because that is the easiest place to shed. Often my chameleon would be all over the cage shedding and rubbing on branches and such. But those are just my thoughts on it. What kind of mister do you have? Like a monsoon or?
