Hello, My name is Ashley and I am new to the Chameleon world. I have had reptiles on and off since 2007. I have raised Balls and Uromastyx. We have been researching "lizards" for awhile and decided on a chameleon. Our breed of choice ended up being an Oustalet. Its a baby so we settled on large Reptibreeze for right now. How does our setup look? Anything I should add or subtract? I have a 5.0 UVB and a 100 watt light. 2 vines and a potted Pothos and Dracaena with bark bottom. I am going to be hand misting for now (since im home anyway). Temp at the highest point of the vine is 90degrees. I appreciate any help as care sheets on an Oustalet is hard to come by but weve done everything we could find. Hope yall are having a wonderful day!

Ashley

i dont know much about outs... chameleons but i do know 10/10 forum members will say removed the bark as its a risk of compaction when they roam to eat crickets, and 90F seems kinda hot for a baby ( it is for panthers and veiled)
maybe someone who has experience in this chameleon will help you
consider this as a free bump

Welcome and congrats on your purchase.
it is very important to do a lot of research. just do a search or post.
everything looks good but as already mentioned the bark and it looks like you are using a compact fluorescent uvb lamp. These have been said to cause eye problems and generally have been kept away from.

Good luck :)

Thank you both. I have removed the bark and put down paper towels. I have also used the "search" option for Oustalets before posting and read ever single thread.. my eyes hurt HAHA I tested using a lower wattage heat bulb but it dropped too low. I am headed to town tonight to get a stand instead of letting the temp be lower. The 87-90 degree temp is on the vine, directly under the bulb. There is plenty of room to at varying heights to be cooler but I will def. look into that stand tonight. Yes, the UVB is the reptisun 5.0 compact fluorescent. I was unaware of any other "reptisun 5.0 uvb" but will also look for a different UVB. Again thank you both. We are very excited to start our new journey... err.. addiction! HAHAHA
