New plant cleaning

I recently bought a Money Tree and a Dwarf Hibiscus from a local grocery store for my chameleons cage and I was wondering what precautions I should take when cleaning the plants to make sure that they are free of pesticides...

I washed mine in a 5 gallon bucket with a small amount of hand soap. I dunked (just the leaves/branches), swished and rinsed. I did it 3 times just to be safe. This is the method I read off of kammerflages site

the only thing i would be worried about is how to be absolutely sure that i got all of the soap off of the leaves just incase my cham decides to snack on them...

thank you for the reply :)

Just use water, spray down the plant with your mister all the soap will come right off.

I took my schleffera and dunked both the roots and plant itself in a 5gal bucketf full of soapy water, cleaned off all the home depot dirt.

I just sprayed them good with the hose. And if it's just regular antibacterial hand soap it wouldn't be THAT bad I don't think if there was a smidge left. I'd try and get it all off as best you can, it's just the lesser of the evils just incase haha

Oh and try not to soak the soil with too much soap if you can unless you're gonna re-pot it in fresh soil (recomended). Organic is best, with no additives or fertilizers

You shouldn't be using the soil it comes in, you need to replace it and wash all the old soil off the roots.

Organic soil is crap IMO, it's full of bark and other substances that attract gnats and other bugs. I prefer sterilized soil.

If by "crap" you mean the way soil is out in the wild in their natural habitat then sure....
